Design Overview & Tactical Role

The T-10M was the ultimate and crowning evolution of the celebrated Soviet Iosif Stalin (IS) heavy tank series (originally designated IS-8, then renamed T-10 following de-Stalinization). Armed with the terrifying 122 mm M-62-T2 high-velocity gun boasting a distinctive five-slot muzzle brake and dual 14.5 mm KPVT machine guns, it represented the absolute pinnacle of classical heavy armor before Main Battle Tanks rendered dedicated heavy tanks obsolete.

Combat History & Battle Records

Stationed in strategic reserves and forward heavy armor regiments in East Germany, the T-10 participated in Operation Danube (the 1968 Warsaw Pact intervention in Czechoslovakia). It remained officially in Russian military reserve inventories until 1996.
