The Arjun Mk 1A represents India's indigenous high-protection heavy armor solution, specially conceived to dominate tank encounters across the Thar Desert along the Indo-Pakistani border. Featuring 72 targeted upgrades over the baseline Arjun, it utilizes Kanchan composite armor, a 120 mm rifled cannon capable of firing thermobaric ammunition and SAMHO anti-tank missiles, and advanced computerized fire control.
Combat History & Battle Records
Developed by DRDO's Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (CVRDE) in Avadi, the Arjun overcame decades of developmental hurdles to demonstrate superior gunnery accuracy during comparative desert trials against the T-90 Bhishma.
