Design Overview & Tactical Role
The Harimau ('Tiger', known as Kaplan MT in Turkey) is a state-of-the-art modern medium tank developed jointly by Indonesia's PT Pindad and Turkey's FNSS. Engineered specifically for the dense archipelago terrain, soft soils, and narrow bridge limits of Southeast Asia, it pairs an agile 32-ton hull with a high-pressure 105 mm Cockerill 3105 gun, offering rapid fire support and tank-killing power in conditions where 65-ton MBTs would bog down.
Combat History & Battle Records
Initiated through a government-to-government agreement in 2014, prototypes successfully completed rigorous jungle and firing trials in West Java. Entering service with the Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) Cavalry in 2020–2022, it represents a landmark milestone for the Indonesian defense industry.
