Design Overview & Tactical Role
South Korea's K2 Black Panther is one of the world's most technologically sophisticated 4th-generation-tier main battle tanks. Equipped with an autoloader that enables a blistering 10 rounds-per-minute rate of fire, it features an advanced millimetric radar, target acquisition system, and the KSTAM smart top-attack munition. Its In-arm Suspension Unit (ISU) can dynamically adjust the tank's posture—'kneeling', 'sitting', or tilting—to maximize hull-down firing angles across mountainous Korean terrain.
Combat History & Battle Records
Designed by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) and built by Hyundai Rotem to replace aging M48 Pattons, mass production began in 2013. The K2 achieved historic export success in 2022 when Poland contracted up to 1,000 K2/K2PL variants to spearhead NATO's Eastern European armored defense.
