Design Overview & Tactical Role

The Tiger I is arguably the most notorious and feared armored fighting vehicle of World War II. Armed with the deadly 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun adapted from the famed 'Flak 88' anti-aircraft artillery, its high-velocity flat-trajectory shells could obliterate Allied armor at ranges exceeding two kilometers before enemy guns could penetrate its 100 mm frontal armor.

Combat History & Battle Records

Debuting near Leningrad in autumn 1942, the Tiger I became synonymous with Panzer aces like Michael Wittmann and Otto Carius. It fought on the Eastern Front (Battle of Kursk, 1943), in the sands of Tunisia, and across the bocage hedgerows of Normandy, cementing an enduring legend in military history.
