Design Overview & Tactical Role
Widely recognized as benchmark European armor, the Leopard 2A7+ is optimized for high-intensity peer conflict as well as asymmetric urban operations. Armed with the high-pressure Rheinmetall L/55A1 gun, it can fire programmable high-explosive (DM11) and cutting-edge kinetic penetrators (DM73). It boasts 360-degree modular composite protection, upgraded thermal sights, and an auxiliary power unit (APU).
Combat History & Battle Records
Developed by KMW in Munich and unveiled in 2010, the 2A7+ incorporated combat lessons from Canadian and Danish Leopard 2 deployments in Afghanistan. Procured by Germany, Denmark, Hungary, and Qatar, the Leopard 2 family serves as the armored spine of over 18 international armies across NATO and partner nations.
