Design Overview & Tactical Role

The Valentine was Britain's most produced tank of World War II, accounting for nearly a quarter of total British tank production. Highly regarded for its exceptional mechanical reliability, low production cost, and low profile, it was modified over eleven distinct marks from early 2-pounder popguns up to the hard-hitting QF 75 mm gun.

Combat History & Battle Records

Nearly half of all Valentines built (over 3,700 tanks) were shipped via Arctic and Persian convoys under Lend-Lease to the Soviet Union. Red Army tankers deeply loved the Valentine for its reliable diesel engine and compact dimensions, using it in cavalry mechanized groups during the liberation of Ukraine and the Baltics.
